The case of "Ruisu Company's application for determining the validity of arbitration agreement" heard by the Beijing International Commercial Court was selected into the "Ten Typical Cases of the People's Courts Serving the Construction of Pilot Free Trade Zones" issued by the Supreme People's Court of the People's Republic of China, on Feb 15.
The case involved determination of the validity of an arbitration clause in an international sports event cooperation agreement. The result of the judgments confirmed the arbitrability of the agreement involved in the case, which was a reflection of judicial support for sports arbitration and for the position that commercial disputes arising from the sports industrial operations could be resolved through arbitration. The decision is expected to help promote the high-quality development of the sports industry and growth in sports consumption.
