The 2024 annual conference of the foreign-related adjudication theory committee, part of the China Law Society's adjudication theory research association, was recently held in Zhuhai, South China's Guangdong province. Wang Shumei , standing member of the Supreme People's Court (SPC)'s adjudication committee (vice-minister level) and the presiding justice of the Third Circuit Court of the SPC, attended the conference and delivered a speech.
Mei Yu, deputy chief judge of the Beijing International Commercial Court (BICC), and Zhang Zhe, judge assistant at the BICC, were invited to attend the conference and deliver speeches, as an essay co-authored by them won the first prize of an essay competition on foreign-related adjudication held by the China Law Society's adjudication theory research association.
The BICC places great emphasis on research and academic exchange, using targeted research to address prominent issues that impact judicial quality and efficiency and promote the integration of research and adjudication. The court also actively participates in high-level academic discussions to enhance its professional capacity in foreign-related commercial adjudication.
