On Aug 14, judges of the Beijing International Commercial Tribunal (BICT) held a legal education outreach event at the Beijing Central Business District (CBD).
As a key area for opening up, the CBD is home to tens of thousands of foreign-funded enterprises and hosts nearly 50 percent of the regional headquarters of multinational corporations in Beijing, serving as a benchmark for the city's efforts to build a first-class international business environment.
The event focused on the legal difficulties encountered by companies in their "going global" and "bringing in" endeavors. Targeted solutions to resolve international commercial disputes presented by judges of the BICT received acclaim from corporate executives and heads of legal affairs attending the event.
"Since its establishment, the BICT has been committed to building a high-quality platform for resolution of international commercial disputes, continuously improving its capacity to handle foreign-related commercial cases and exploring new paths for cross-border dispute resolution to provide stronger judicial services for the development of an open global economy," said Ma Jun, chief judge of the BICT.
Under the theme of building a preferred platform for resolving international commercial disputes — judicial innovation and practical exploration of the BICT, he presented a detailed overview of the court's establishment, operations and talent development.
Using typical cases, he also shared valuable experiences and innovative mechanisms for ensuring the equal protection of the legitimate rights and interests of both Chinese and foreign parties.
During the subsequent Q&A session, corporate representatives raised questions on topics such as international contract and transaction risks, resolution of international commercial disputes and cross-border compliance and investment protection.
Ma provided detailed answers to these question and offered practical legal advice, which was met with enthusiastic responses and strong affirmation of the court's work from the attendees.
