As China observes its 12th National Constitution Day on Dec 4, judges from the Beijing Fourth Intermediate People's Court (BFIPC) were on the move.
They visited the legal publicity office at South Central Axis (Beijing) International Culture and Technology Park to deliver an instructive legal presentation on foreign-related matters for representatives from over 10 companies in the park.
Mei Yu, deputy chief judge of the Beijing International Commercial Tribunal (BICT), provided an in-depth explanation on key topics. These included identification of foreign-related elements in international commercial cases, the scope of cases under the jurisdiction of the BICT, the practical application of ascertaining foreign laws and diverse mechanisms for resolving foreign-related commercial disputes.
In the interactive session, representatives from the companies raised various legal challenges that cultural enterprises face in their going global efforts. In response, Mei provided guidance on several fronts, including understanding foreign laws in advance, clarifying delivery and acceptance conditions, selecting dispute resolution methods and protecting intellectual property rights.
