On Dec 20, 2025, the Legal Daily announced its seventh selection of typical cases in legal services supporting the Belt and Road cooperation in Beijing.
Among them was one exemplary case submitted by the Beijing Fourth Intermediate People's Court (BFIPC), which involved the mediation of a dispute involving an overseas power plant.
The overall selection serves as a key platform to showcase the practical achievements in Belt and Road legal services.
A total of 321 submissions were received from frontline practitioners, covering such diverse fields as dispute resolution, investment services, compliance assurance and innovative legal practice.
In the case handled by the BFIPC, the court addressed disputes over quality of an overseas power station project, a tough issue in cross-border dispute resolution, and innovatively applied a "technology plus law" mediation approach.
Leveraging its expertise in international dispute resolution, the BFIPC collaborated with technical experts to accurately identify the core issues of the quality dispute and employed diversified resolution mechanisms.
This effectively balanced the legal application of different jurisdictions with the commercial interests of the parties, leading to a proper and efficient settlement.
Ultimately, the resolution safeguarded the legitimate rights and interests of the parties involved and provided a practical model for the fair and efficient handling of cross-border engineering disputes.
Moving forward, the BFIPC will continue to innovate cross-border dispute resolution mechanisms and improve the quality and effectiveness of foreign-related judicial services.
It aims to contribute to the development of a market-oriented, law-based and internationalized business environment and to the steady and sustainable progress of Belt and Road cooperation.
