Guo Wei, chairperson of the Beijing Arbitration Commission (BAC), and Jiang Lili, secretary-general of the BAC, participated in the event.

Guo briefed the delegation from the BFIPC on the functional layout, development and operation of the physical platform of the Beijing International Commercial Arbitration Center. He also introduced the latest progress following the implementation of the "1+1+N" system that involves the domestic and international arbitration rules as well as specialized extension rules for specific fields and new types of disputes.

Guo said that the high-quality development of arbitration cannot be achieved without judicial support and supervision, and he expressed the hope to enhance collaboration with the BFIPC, jointly improving the one-stop and full-chain international commercial dispute resolution mechanism that integrates litigation, mediation and arbitration. This effort aims to provide robust legal support for Beijing in fostering a world-class business environment, he added.

Gong said that the BFIPC will focus on the strategic development positioning of Beijing in the new era, fully leverage the demonstrative effect of circuit trials and provide one-stop services, such as property preservation and judicial confirmation of mediation agreements, so as to continuously enhance the international integrity and influence of both the judiciary and arbitration.

Efforts will be made to create an arbitration-friendly judicial environment, promote the development of a demonstration zone that integrates legal services and commercial activities and enhance cooperation with arbitration institutions to contribute more judicial expertise and strength toward building Beijing into a top-tier preferred destination for resolution of international commercial disputes, he said.

During the meeting, participants from both sides engaged in in-depth exchanges and discussions on topics including helping arbitration institutions move beyond serving mainly domestic needs to competing at the international level, the implementation of the newly revised Arbitration Law, better coordination between mediation, arbitration and litigation and the development of platforms for foreign-related legal services.
